Every design is an original, one of a kind art piece, handmade by me with care and heart. I consider myself a designer who first creates fabric and then from that fabric, a wearable art object. In this work I make two kinds of fabric:

hand dyed silk

and

fiber collage
To create the silk, I start with many different weights of white silk. I dye these, mixing colors on the fabric to create saturated, variegated colors and textures. To create the more complex fiber collage fabric, I piece together a variety of fine fabrics, mixing up colors, fibers, and textures, then bind them with a wide machine satin stitch. Once the base layer is created, I embroider and bead the result. Using my fabrics, I create wearable art objects...
